Just Another Setback

This is how I look like now. I look like this because I've been pulling my hair out! I am SO frustrated! You all know that Spring Break was going to be sort of like a mini Renaissance for me. I was going to jump start the wogging, I was going to hit the gym hard. Hell, I was even going to start doing yoga! But, of course, whenever I make plans, something goes wrong. That week, it was sickness.

Well, last week, I thought everything was going well. I felt great! The weather was beautiful. But then... the sickness returned. And this time worse than ever. Not only did I have flu like symptoms again, but I had migraines (worse than before), cold sweats, fever, stomach virus (both ends mind you), strep throat, and dehydration. I don't know what in the world that bug was, but it was one tough bug!

I think that it's over. I still have cough and I'm still recovering my voice and I'm still in the process of rehydrating myself. But I think it's gone. I'm on Avelox (which has some pretty nasty side effects itself... ugh!) right now to ensure that the bug stays away. The Doctor says I should be back to my old self by the end of next week, but until then, NO workouts of ANY kind. I guess I should listen to her so I can get better, but I'm going nuts! I have a race in a couple of weeks that I have to get ready for! Oh well, what can I do?

I hope everyone is doing well and that y'all are all happy and healthy.

A New Season of Training

Mongello! It is a gorgous day here in Clinton. Since my first class today was cancelled (for lab), I'm sitting outside on the quad, enjoying the beautiful weather. Yes, spring has arrived here in the southeast.

Got out and walked 4 miles this morning. Since I've never really been training since the half (only a few walks and gym visits here and there), my body is feeling the toll of all the recent walks I've been taking. I think I may be developing shin splints again. I've wrapped my shins to help combat this, so I don't set myself back anymore than I have too. I hope it helps.

Add 'em to the List!

Hey Guys! I'm finally starting to feel better. The headaches are still there (damn pollen) but the stomach virus and the flu are gone. And just in time for the end of Spring Break! Oh well, C'est la vie I guess.

Anyway, I was able to put in a 2 miler on Friday and a 3 miler on Saturday. Nothing strinuous (I didn't want to risk upseting my body anymore than I had to), but at least it was something.

One last thing before I go. My Aunt, Cousin and I have entered into an other half marathon and a 5k. More info on them in a future post.

Well, that's all I have for today. Things should be back to normal tomorrow, so back to regular training and the gym. So, I'll have the regular format back up then.

Talk to you all soon!

One Helluva Two Weeks.....

Ok... I know it's been a while. I have just been SO busy. Last week I was busy studying and taking midterms. So other that a few walks around campus, I did virtually no training.

I thought that since this week was Spring Break, I would have plenty of time to hit the gym and go running. Turns out that I was wrong. Sunday afternoon, I started feeling bad and it's gotten worse and worse. I'm conviced that it's the flu. What a nice gift to have during a break, huh?

Anyway, if I get better any during the week I will start back to training. If not I'll just start back next week. I'll keep you all posted.

WAAAHHHH!!!!!

That was the face I made when I got on the "Medical Scale" at the gym. It said 227... TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY SEVEN POUNDS!!!! WHAT THE HELL!!! My home scale said 218. I was SO angry!

Anyway, I got a good workout in yesterday. I did everything I had originally set out to do except for the wheel workouts. I was just too sore and I couldn't hold myself up. I could bearly do my pushups!

I Need Some Head On

Just thought I'd annoy you all today with that STUPID commercial. Yesterday's agenda was kind of shot down. I had that damn headache all day yesterday and it's still lingering even now. I'm not going to let that stop me today though. I'm going back to that gym and I'm going to do all of my workouts today!

Chris- I guess the real name is "Ab Roller"... here's what I'm talking about: http://www.overstock.com/Sports-Toys/Core-Ab-Roller/3481815/product.html?cid=128296&fp=F&srccode=cii_13736960&cpncode=20-7832751-2

And I agree, about Head On. It really doesn't work (It's basically like a chapstick version of Icy Hot), it just distracts you and makes you look like an idiot.

Just Another Update

Yesterday went pretty well, but I am SO sore!!! This was my first "real" workout in a long time. It felt good after I was done, but I'm paying for it this morning! I'm going to keep it up though. I think I'm finally back out there.

Here's today's entry. Today is "Super Cardio" Day.

Update: Ok... I wasn't able to go to the gym today. I have had a splitting headache all day. I'm hoping to get the In Room Workout in later tonight.

New Format

Mongello guys!

I'm in a pickle as far as training goes. I just cannot stay focused on keeping it up. Well, I'm going to start something new (morelike what I used to do) to help me keep things in perspective and keep me motivated.

I keep a written training/diet journal. That way I can see my progress as time moves forward. But, only I see it. If I have a bad day or I do something wrong, no one is there to "yell" at me or encourage me. So... I'm moving the written journal to the blog. That way all of you will see how the day went and how I did. Keep me Accountable!!!

So, Here is today's edition:
