11 Years Later

Just wanted to share this interesting video I found on YouTube the other day. It's footage from Disneyland during their "Flag Raising Ceremony" on September 23, 2001. It's a really touching ceremony and I felt that it would be appropriate for today.

Regular posts resume tomorrow! I promise!

"Magic, Memories, and You!"

I just found this video on Facebook and thought I'd share it with all of you. I had heard different things about "Magic, Memories, and You!" but I really didn't know what it was. Since I'm so behind in podcasts, I'm still getting news that's about three months old. So when I found this link, I had to check it out.

I am in tears right now. I'd say after World of Color (haven't seen it in person), this is probably the coolest thing I have seen Disney do. This is just what I needed to end this day.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the Video

Rae posted this video on her blog yesterday and I thought I'd just post it here as well.

This video really spoke to me. I feel like it was made just for me. Because making excuses is all I have done for the past 2 months and I have excused myself right back to 230lbs. I have been lazy, plain and simple and I've been making these stupid damn excuses to justify it.

Some Aumusing Disney Marathon Videos

Though I'm having my doubts about my readiness for this race, I'm still just pumped! Probably because I'll be in Walt Disney World in just 6 days!!! Well, just to get in the spirit, I've been browsing YouTube for video from past Disney races and video from the parks in general. Through my browsing, I've found two videos I'd like to share with you.

This video is from 1994, back when the WDW Marathon was just starting. For some reason, I found it funny. I guess the nostalgic value of seeing the parks in the way they were back then among other things and the announcer's "I'm not reading this!" style humored me.

This video is a "time lapse" video of the half marathon last year. It's just really cool to me. The fact that the guy ran the race with a camera strapped to his head and finished in 1:25 is just astounding to me. Also, I remember seeing "Snow White" leave the Magic Kingdom as I was coming in.

WARNING- This video's audio is VERY loud, so be sure to turn down the volume on your speakers before hitting play. It's loud, but very catchy... I added it to my running playlist today as a matter of fact!

Happy New Year!!!

With all of the holidays, partys, get togethers, and outings, this has been a very busy couple of weeks for all of us. Hopefully you've had fun and haven't done to bad as far as neglecting your training. But now it's time to hit the ground running, literally! We've only got 8 days until the big day! Can you believe it!!!

I've been trying to throw in some last minute training this last week and for the most part, I think I've been doing pretty well. All last week I went out and wogged (including Christmas Eve and Day) some, wether it was a mile or 8 miles. Food was a little difficult, but hey, it's the holidays, right?

On Monday, I went 8 miles (I actually jogged, not wogged, a full mile!) Yesterday, I did a 3 mile maintenacne walk and today I did a 6 1/2 mile wog.

I also figured out my game plan for race day. During the first mile (with maybe a warmup walk around the parking lot before the race) I'm going to be simply walking. Since traffic will be so conjested anyway, why not walk anyway? Once I hit Mile 2, I'll start walking for 2 minutes then speed walk for 5 minutes, then jogging for 3, then repeat. This way, I can maintain roughly a 13 1/2 minute mile. As I warm up, I'll be able to jog more and walk less.

I'm going to really test this on Saturday. I'm hoping to put in at least a 10 miler (should I up it to 13?) then. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

With that out of the way, here's a little video for the new year.

HAPPY 2009 EVERYONE!!!
